Finding Toy for F | A to Z April 2016 Challenge

Damn you have not lost it as yet? Dude you are past that age when you could not find a girlfriend!, said John's concerned childhood buddy Ron.
Yes dude, what is the easiest way to get someone? questioned John.

Just tell her that you love her, and you will find your toy', said Ron and for the kind of man he was - that was one of the most honest replies. Sigh!

Author's Note: This is for men who treat women like objects and for women who just go by words.

P.S.: Again from the saved drafts! Gosh I am so thankful for all the drafts I created! Sleepy now, dozing off~

Evil Eyes for E | A to Z April 2016 Challenge

Let's keep our love under shield from the evil eyes of this world. She said and left. It was the love that made her say that. She did not want to leave him. After a while, the door bell rang, and there she was back to whom she keeps telling to keep their love under wraps from the evil eyes of this world. It was a guilt that he asked her to stay. Else he would have broken her heart another time to be told that he has never been hers.

Source Google Search

Her mind screams.
Not for how he should be
But what love is suppose to feel like
Was it the evil eyes
Or was it just not love
For all the eyes staring at them
Was it for the eyes that she stays
Or was it for her she was staying
Because at the back her mind was a constant question
Nagging her, screaming to come out loud
If evil eyes exist for the love she carried for him?
Isn't true love meant to be so strong that it can overpower all evil?
Was she with someone who would fight the evil eyes or would he leave again?

Author's Note: Back to topic of love, confusion and so on... Well how could I drift from this topic. It the something that keeps the world going (mostly make people get upside down). Again a draft makes way for my A to Z entry. #SuperBusyMe

Raw Rugged Rowdy
(R on Day 18 of A to Z Challenge 2015)

Howdy,
Your worldly dreams
Are raw, rugged and rowdy
You fail to receive gracefully
Two words of sheer kindness
For those who care
They ignore your venom
Or let it seep into them
Because they don't want to cause you hurt

But you, my boy
You don't care, do you?
You keep spilling venom
And you are in love with it
Holding it close and
Scared to let go of it
As if two words of love
Will make you less of a King
As if empathy could make you less of a warrior

Let me tell you a story about a man who did just what you do. He was rude, rowdy and rugged. He started it when he was a child and no one stopped him. People called him a leader, a king in the making. But no one befriended him and everyone was scared of his wrath. Those who did not fear him, were brought to the terms to being scared of him. And he was surrounded by only those who accepted him. He never let anyone who would make himself question of mend his ways stand next to him.

In his mind he was a King, and he waited for someone who would accept him for what he is. He waited for love, but he could not wait the wait. So he let go of it, hurting those who would want to be with him. This only made him bitter, because his only accomplice is his anger. And now he was bored of his anger, he rarely smiled and those who came to his service were just boring yes-men. They were boring because their yeses were not out of love or care, they were out of fear. Fear of your anger.

Author's Note: Reminds me of Beauty and the Beast. Yes many of us let that bad thing, anger or guilt consume us. We don't care who we smash in the process of feeding onto our anger. We only end up losing those who truly cared. And in the end just carry a guilt, why did I fail to see? Why did I fail to mend? Was anger that precious than those precious moments?

Quit, am Calling it Quit!
(Q on Day 17 of A to Z Challenge 2015).

I have red hair, but I don't have blue eyes and hence you are in double minds to take this ahead. I do not fit into your ideal version of me. And I forgot to see if you do fit into my ideal version of me. All that while I had been working to get you to accept me for my black eyes. But your rock heart did not budge, you failed to see beyond the material beauty and you ended up breaking me.

I am calling it off. I dissociate with you because I have had it enough of ranting and chanting your concepts of when to wake up, when to sleep and when to eat. I have come to terms with the fact that conformity to your standards is below my dignity and sanity. It was lately that I realized the threshold of my tolerance, and it has been stupid of my and my folks to have been ranting and chanting your concepts. You started when I was a kid, and you still mess with my head.

Remember the times when I was hurt, you did not console me. You came up with your famous adage - I Told You So. You did not allow me to make my own mistakes and learn from them. You did lend me a listening ear, but you listened more to judge me than to empathize with me. You did not leave a chance to belittle me for innocent mistakes I made. Never did I intend to hurt you, but you miraculously made it sound like that. I started living for your approval, and forgot who am I in real.

You fit in my plan of a perfect life, but now I will trail the path without any plans. I am somebody who is bejeweled with my set of perfect imperfections. I look for no one who does not love my ornamentation. So rather than struggling everyday for your acceptance, I quit. I will survive without you because searching acceptance in your eyes everyday is getting killed in anticipation. So from today, stating just now, I quit, I am calling it quit. I quit allowing your double standards to mess with my mind.

Author's Note:
I quit deciding where to go. Have accepted not knowing where I am going.

"And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not know where you’re going, but you know that so long as you spread your wings, the winds will carry you.” – C. Joybell

Nightmare It Is
(N on Day 14 of A to Z Challenge 2015).

It was a stark dark road, and I stood still amidst tall buildings and no greens. A traffic signal faraway that flashed yellow, inviting me to walk towards it. As I started a voyage towards the light, everything was threatening to kill me. I encountered a huge man hole just five steps away from where I started and sound of barking dogs. So huge that it covered the entire street. A railing on the wall was all that seem to welcome me and I hopped on. Sticking on to it as I made tiny steps. Each of my tiny steps inversely impacted the diameter of the manhole. Inside that manhole were bears waiting for me to fall, howling at me to fall and be their feast for the night. My heart was pounding harder, I did not want to die like this.

I crossed the dreaded manhole only to find a huge wolf in front of me. I went numb and could not take a step. I was only waiting for the wolf to jump and feast on me. It seems better to have a grave inside one whole animal than be eaten by many. The wolf walked upto me and sniffed me and walked towards the manhole. I looked back and the manhole was gone. It was now a city with a bustling nightlife.

And a Chinese man on a bike, pulled brakes shouting get on the bike, they are coming for you?
Who is it?
Shut up and hop on, he shouted.
Why is someone coming for me?
And then someone missed a shot at me. Without a second thought I hopped on.
He sped into the woods and crashed his bike into a drain.

I was inside deep waters, struggling to breath and trying to swim out of it. Breathing hard but something chokes in my throat. Trying to move my hands but they do not move. I hear a siren somewhere. I wish someone see me and save me in this dark night.

It was then that the alarm rang, and my collars were draining sweat.

Author's Note: Come to think of how I want to die, perhaps in my sleep, while I win over demons that are housed in my head and pound my heart badly in real life.

Sleep paralysis is what I wanted to narrate via this short story.

When life gives you Coffee beans

It was a quick mug of coffee that she craved. She rushed into the office pantry slipped a mug from the shelf, filled it with hot water, threw coffee, sugar and milk powder in it. Moved a spoon inside the mug for precisely five rotations. It tasted bad, but it worked wonders for her.

Source: Google Search
Author's Note: Life is just as a cup of coffee, it will not taste great always but will be just perfect for you.

P.S.: No matter how great you want your coffee to be, sometimes just a quick one cannot match the one presented by the best of Barista(s). I assume that all hot, cold, frothy, espresso, latte, cappuccino, arabian coffee lovers connect to this post.

Complicating Love

Source - Google Search
We can talk about it later, we have all the time. Why do you want to spoil the day? he asked while answering the question - I think you like being melodramatic.

She was enraged, melodramatic was a strong word. He was as calm as still waters as if he did not say anything offensive. From the very beginning, it was impossible for her to read his mind. For her who could read anyone's mind within a span of few seconds, her sense was turned blind when he was the one. His face never invited her judgement, it was non conditional feeling that numbed her mind.

I do not ask anything other than a yes or a no, she said while looking right in his eyes.

He was quite, his eyes did not reveal anything. After a long uncomfortable silence, he said, saying either is not as simple as it sounds.

She left with a broken heart and managed to hide her tears. She did not want to explain to him the basic concept of love. She hoped to be wanted by him, not as a person who can make his day but as a companion who could sweep him away.

Author's Note: Love is not complicated, people are.

P.S.: It is okay to get your heart broken, you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find that prince charming. (wink)

Gambling Away Love

The arrival of June in Delhi is not pleasant. Birds look for water, dogs are never found with their tongue tucked in, cows laze around and for humans it is the time when they got no time to move out, but to stay indoors, next to an AC that causes temperature inside her room go down, but throws all the heat outside.

And there she was, cursing the AC each time she is out in sun. Machines running on the concept of reverse 'carnot cycle' do not make stepping out of home a pleasant experience. June has arrived and her mind is full of questions. Questions about survival, questions about life, questions about friends & those fake ones, questions about people who either turned or will turn non-existent and questions about love.

Source: http://evettedionne.files.wordpress.com

For a few days she has been trying to make a big decision - a decision that once made will change her life forever. The question that haunted her forever was will she fall in love again? Will she adore someone more than she adored her first love? Will she care for someone more than she cared for him?

She started penning down in her diary, she still wanted to give him a chance, but she was scared - of a No. And if it would be a yes - she was scared of lies, being betrayed and left again. Because she needs someone who will love her unconditionally and did not want to be the only one who gave away all the conditions to be with him. She was sick of giving and not getting that unconditional love in return.

So she decided that she will not believe in love anymore. Her pure feelings did not make her strong she will keep her emotions on guard! She will play it on as a gamble.

Author's Note: It is not logical to fall in love with someone beyond any condition, but it is all fine when it is not coming from just one side.

P.S.: Matters of heart are like gambling, it is either a big loss or a huge win!

Pretentious: A-to-Z Challenge [18 April 2014]

It was the day, like everyday, when she thought about the moment she lived with him. Her mind was clouded with his thoughts, as she walked on that crowded street. Her heart skipped a beat as she got a look of him. Steering through the crowd, his face stood out. Smiling and happy with someone who appeared to be his new found love.

That moment brutally killed her pretensions, she chose to walk on her way, without letting an iota of her pain show up on her face.

Source: www.sodahead.com
When they passed by, she did not look at him. When they passed by, he called her name. When they passed by was the moment when she did not listen to him.

Badge : A-to-Z Challenge [April 2014]
She cremated her pretensions and finally gave up thinking about him.

Author's Note: Many a time we pretend to care, or pretend to not care. Some encounters help in getting us out of a pretentious mode.

P.S.: This is a fiction to capture that sometimes we pretend, but the emotions behind those pretensions.

P.P.S: When was the last time you pretended? Do share it if you wish to.

Fear

I was walking on a calm road. However, it ought to be a busy one, as it is right besides a busy ringroad. But this one is calm, you dont get to hear the honking to rash bus drivers, its rare to spot a car or two. I am amongst the pedestrians who take resort to an evening walk everyday after work.

Do I actually come here for a walk? I often ask myself. I have a strange association with this place. During the day its all green, peaceful and lively. One can just sit around while missing college days! At night its mysterious. Is it really enigmatic or I make it that way? I make stories as I stand beneath a tree I detest looking up as I fear a child will be sitting on the branch and will wave at me. While walking in dark I feel a witch is riding on a broom stick chasing me.

Fear

I was walking on a calm road. However, it ought to be a busy one, as it is right besides a busy ringroad. But this one is calm, you don't get to hear the honking of rash bus driven, its rare to spot a car or two.

I know I come here to face my fear! To affirm that I am a brave girl. Of late I have observed myself facing my fears and this makes me feel high about myself. Ironically I feel that I am just being silly, nothing of this sort happens! Perhaps I am in love with this place, my accomplice for happy and sad times. When I am happy I want to take a long walk and celebrate my happiness with the trees and birds around. When I am sad I want to find a secluded corner to cry.

Today was a strange day. I woke up in the morning with someone knocking on the door of my room on opening it no one was there. While commuting a women passed by my car and on my shouting at her she gave a wicked smile to me, as if she wasn't scared of being hit by my car. The lift-man of the office building was a new guy who greeted me with a big smile, dressed like the doorman of five star hotels.

While this thought was crossing my mind, I saw a man coming towards me. He seem like a sensible gentleman in his early 40s. He sought me to guide him for the way to the ringroad. I was distracted from a self interrogation session. This is meant to be my me-time, I don't even take my mobile calls during this time. Irritated, I politely responded to his query to guide him a way to the ringroad. He seem confused and requested me to accompany him till the turn where it would be easier for me to help him locate the way.

Not wanting to walk towards the other end of the road with a stranger. I thought to start interacting with him. I have always been apprehensive about sharing my thoughts and vulnerability with someone known, as it would give them a means to for them to be judgemental. For the world, I am an introvert.

The gentleman introduced himself, I am Dr. Khocchar, I am a management professor at Harvard Business School. For a moment I was taken aback. HBS, well this is amongst the best b-schools in the world, rather the top most school. Ohh, I am Maanvi, I work as a researcher with Mc Kinsey!

I like this place, greenery and peace despite being a part of the national capital, he said.
Is it the first time you have come here? I asked.
He replied, yes, I was suppose to visit FMS, its good to come back to your country.
Mhmmm, I murmured.
This being a campus area, I have been noticing a lot of billboards aimed at sensitising the youngsters about STDs, HIV, fighting eve teasers, and what not.... Is it actually safe? I have been reading quite a few things on Delhi being unsafe.
Yes its safe! I was be-dazed by his question. At least I have never noticed anything supernatural and I don't even want to, I thought.
Ohkkk... he seemingly was perturbed by my being stunned. Well its ought to be safe, I have seen police around, he was trying to get be back at ease.
I smiled at him and decided to share my vulnerability. I said actually you asking me this question took me off my senses. I took your question to a completely different connotation. I told him that I find this place unsafe and fear facing supernatural powers, but I still come here. He heard me with patience.
So you face your fear.. That's amazing, not many people can do it. I must say that you are a brave girl, this made me feel as it I am a kid and someone is telling me that I am the best! I just could not stop now, I started narrating all the instances and philosophies that I have about life and my fear. It was the time that we reached the corner of the road where we were suppose to part ways. He said that he would have loved to spend time with me, a brave girl!

Situation 1: He asked could we sit for some time together and talk about it. We sat roadside and discussed my philosophies with him. He was an amazing human being and I was no more an introvert. After an hour, he had to leave, we shared visiting cards and stayed in touch. He was someone who will remain unknown to me, but I have managed to have a pal to share my vulnerability with, without the fear of being judged.

Situation 2: Now however he had to leave as he had a to rush. Can we meet sometime in future, he asked while we exchanged cards. He promised to meet tomorrow and then vanished instantly in the air. He was a spirit... I was dead scared.

Situation 3: For today its not possible, I have to head for home. I notices a vendor staring at us. Can we meet tomorrow? He asked. Yes we can I said and we shook hands. We took our ways and looked back to pass the last glance for the day. He was not there. He perhaps vanished. I asked a vendor, where is the gentelman? He replied who gentelman. I have been noticing you talking to yourself. I was not scared, he perhaps we a ghost or an illusion. I plan to met him tomorrow. I know I am brave.

Author's Note: Which is the best situation of all... Please give your preference.

Suicidal!

It took me a while to recollect dialing for ambulance. Dial 100! No that’s police... 107! Fire brigade. For ambulance its 102... I think so... yes. But damn no one is picking it up! I moved out of the room looking for the warden, each step left blood marks on the floor. I wanted to locate the warden. I just did not know how to reach; this was the first time when I felt so confused. My mate attempted suicide, and I had not one around to help me. Most of the girls went home during diwali, and we were the unfortunate ones, to be stuck on work. Me and Prachi work in the same office and are the best of friends! Not being able to locate anyone to help, I controlled my trembling hands and dialled eight times two. The service got me connected to ambulance service of a private hospital. The ambulance reached within 15 minutes, and we got her inside the cab. Now I am waiting for the doctors to update me about her status...
