Sometimes your morals do not let you do what you badly want to do. It could be morals that are imposed on you or imposed on those who affect your decisions.
That could be scream, shout, slap or may be kiss someone. We often struggle to strike a balance between losing and maintaining an image that falls in line with social definition of morals. The better we are at maintaining it, more are the chances of appearing as preservers of our self respect. Maintaining it is the ultimate goal and losing it make you appear like a loser, in the eyes of whoever is aware about your loss. So we hide and manipulate, and make ourselves appear as grand preservers of our SELF RESPECT.
But what about those situation when you are in a tough ideological conflict. Would you do what sorts things out in your mind or would you keep a straight face and preserve your self esteem.
If you were given a chance in life to do something forbidden would you do it and what would it be?
Author's Note: Does that mean that you should be cautious about not letting the world find that you are doing something forbidden or should you actually forbid.
P.S.: I will go an photograph all the places where camera is not allowed. Here morals do not stop us but morals of those who follow social diktats give them the privilege to stop us.

Smile, it makes (y)our day!
Thank you Sri :)
DeleteMorals sometimes gives you strength to fight the evil it also makes you weak at other time.
ReplyDeleteI am blogging at The Other Side
I agree with you.
DeleteGood question but I can't think of anything right now. I think balance may be the key here

Yes. Balance is the key. Thank you :)
DeleteNot going into specifics.. We all do lot of things which may be considered against morality since it is subjective. Hence subjectivity cannot be a perfect measure. It only bothers us when the actions are studied in comparative or by other people. "Log Kya kahenge" LKK syndrome. We have one life and we should do what we think is right. So that is about me.. For a deep dive and acadamic interest you may go through www.socialpsychology.org
ReplyDeleteI think that it is the line of conscious which differentiates an human from other animals.
ReplyDeleteAs a social animal we should do things which is expected to do or acceptable considering outer environment.
Morals will determine what is right or wrong...But all these has lots of facets & would vary based on "What we feel" & "Where we feel it".
As an example you had mentioned that you "Take camera all over including places where it is not allowed:. Though it could be acceptable for public places but not in all frontiers. For example: You may take your camera to a public park & take your selfie's but not nuclear theme project. If you do irrespective of what determines your thinking it would not be an acceptable practice & thus it's anti social thus it should be controlled.
It is just like feeling what an "Terrorist" feels before going to any place & blasting himself. Irrespective of his beliefs, what his morals guide him... It will still be unaccepted practice.
Thus to end i believe all actions or activities we do would be right being in the framework of the society in general & without creating either willful negative bias among society & evaluating the action & effect overall
the grey matter does exist despite moral etiquuetes,.... perhaps a pratical need.
