Neither a Male nor a Female

The civil society does not acknowledge any sex other than female or male. What if I was an eunuch? The thought crossed my mind when I located an eunuch last night. It crossed a crowded bus stop sporting a salwar kameez, flaunting cleavage and lips smudged with dark brown shade. It did not smile at anybody just looked around with a plastic smile.

Think about it for a while before you read further.

What would you be doing for livelihood?
Would you be knowing about your parents?
Would you be cursing the society?
Would you be happy with the way people treat you?
Wouldn't you want your elder brother to take you for evening ice cream treats?
Wouldn't you want your grand mom to read stories to you?
Wouldn't you wish your mom make your favorite food on your birthday?

You are forced to live a rotten life just because your reproductive organs does not exist or work.
Either at birth or during the puberty years, outsiders will claim right on you and (in most of the cases) force you to join their brigade.
Some of you might be living with your actual parents who have succeeded in either hiding you sexuality or have been fighting with the society for acceptance.
Some are being abused, harassed by the society for something thats not anybody's fault.

I highly endorse that the society should acknowledge the existence of this gender at par with male or female. They are not to be left out, after all they are like us, they fall sick, they too have emotions and a bonding with their loved ones. Let them study, work and move around just as we do.

Author's Note: Not just female gender bias, the society does not accept eunuchs as well. Is it suppose to be just a Man's World?

PS: Did you notice that I had to address them as 'it' neither he nor she. Sad it is!

Price of Life!

Sitting on a rocking chair.
I feel tilting towards front and the back with cheer.
I reach for the gravity with every gear.
I feel the thrill on a rocking chair!

Riding a bike on a pristine night.
Feeling the rain drops in my eyes.
I reach for veracious limits from every sight.
I feel the passion on a biking ride!

At a park with greenery and birdie pie.
I admire the panache with which she flies.
Hopping from branches to endless skies.
I feel the life in a greeny pile!

Breathing air in and outside.
I feel that I gotta live life king size.
My dreams await me to reach and smile.
I feel its worth it to give life a fair price!

Author's Note: Second verse :), the first composition is here .

River of the Spring!

Flowing through innumerable colours.
Pinging the soil with a nourishing zeal.
Embracing the shadows of the tall greens.
Slopping freely down the hills.
I wish I was the river of the spring!

Letting the passer-by find their imprint.
Housing the wild and the aquamarine.
Dishing waters out for the aerial and terrine.
Zooming and dancing off a high terrain.
I wish I was the river of the spring!

Greeting each train that passes across the bridge.
Moistening the land of sand and concrete.
Smiling at priests taking dip as an early morning retreat.
Singing with the vacationers riding on track collimate.
I wish I was the river of the spring!

Author's Note: This is the first verse composed by me.

Ajmal Kasab, Abdul Geelani and The Aamirs!

Ajmal Kasab today has been pronounced guilty of murder, conspiracy and waging a war against the nation. No verdict on his punishment is out as yet.

I am generally against capital punishment. And when I use to read news which read "hang Kasab" I always differed wondering no one has a right to take someone's life. Today morning I differed in my perspective when I read that an 11 year old girl got crippled for life as she was shot on her leg by the terrorist.

The story reads as: Ajmal Kasab and his cohorts may have shaken almost the entire city during those dark days at the end of November in 2008, but a young girl held her nerve and nailed him in court six months later when she identified him as one of the CST attackers. "Kasab should be hanged. When I identified him and narrated the incident to the court, Kasab didn't dare look at me. I do not fear anything and will stand with the prosecution till Kasab is punished," said the girl, who is now 11 years old.
"You can click my photo and show my face in the paper. I don't fear anyone," she said on Saturday. The testimony of the girl, who fell unconscious after being hit by a bullet in her leg, was also among those that were a turning point for Kasab in the trial. Earlier, the Pakistani often appeared cocky and confident in court, but his demeanour changed as survivor after survivor identified him as one of the gunmen. On June 10, 2009, the young girl appeared in crutches in court and identified him from among the three accused. As soon as she pointed him out, Kasab, who was standing for the identification, slumped back into his seat.
The entire story is available here. Now isn't that heinous, scary and leaves one crippled when u think of the girl? Anything that renders someone of their senses, emotional or physical wellbeing and natural ability is disgusting and beyond my ability to put it in words.

I have had my share of apprehensions especially post 'Syed Abdul Rehman Geelani' saga, an innocents being framed up for the Parliament attack in Delhi on December 2001. I thought most of the innocents have been framed up by the cops to cover up their negligence.

Moreover I always believed that generally terrorists are not scared of death. After all they take up such missions in the almighty. They are mostly sure that they will not be caught, and if at all they will; be their plight is not communicated to the people who got introduced them to this nexus.

Here I am also obliged to mention another angle to the terror grid. The one which was showcased in bollywood movie 'Aamir', and Rajeev Khandelwal bagged acclaims for his performance. The movie is set in the backdrop of London bombings and Mumbai based muslim India doctor working in UK plans to return to his family. The radical mafia makes him dance to their tunes, tortures him, keep a tab on him and ultimately makes him to plant a bomb in a bus. I wonder what proceedings would the judicial system take up for the  in which an innocent man was framed up to plot a bomb in bus?

So at the end I am scribbing the lyrics of song Aani Jaani from the movie Aamir:
aani jaani... hai kaahani
bulbule si... zindagani
banti kabhi bigarti
Tez hawa se ladti, bhirti
ha raham, ha raham, farma e-Kuhda
ha raham, ha raham, farma e-Kuhda
mehfuz har kadam karna e-khuda, e-Khuda
mehfuz har kadam karna e-khuda, e-Khuda

Terrorism is easy money for the young. Be it sikh establishments fighting for Khalistaan. Once a friend confessed that he and a few of his fellow surds, on and off are being approached by one such organization, promised good money while initiating such deals very casually on roads. Educated and well to do people might not take up these tasks but anyone who does not see a secure future would fall in such a trap.

This nexus can somehow be related to those poor, illiterate women who have to get into prostitution for financial security. Same goes for those people who take up terrorism for financial security.

Author's Note: Each day, early morning when I take a dip in the newspaper. I feel its getting more of a man eat man world.

Earth Day - April the 22nd

A little background on the day and I will proceed with a few ideas on preserving the mother earth, and relate it with a few crisis which are apprehended to hit the world in the times to come.

The earth in order top be preserved of the damage done by mankind's greed needs greater activism. The Earth Day was christened on April the 22nd, 1970. Forty years on we are still long way to go. Almost each year mankind is hit by the anger of the mother earth in the forms of earth quacks, Tsunami's, floods & droughts, melting glaciers.

Himalayas known as the young mountains, as they are still climbing and growing, will be stripped off their ice cover due to climate change. The glaciers are expected to melt by 2035 impacting the water supply, river channels and wild lives. Himalayas combined drainage basin is home to some 3 billion people almost half of earth population in countries which includes Afghanistan,Bangladesh, Bhutan, People's Republic of China, India, Nepal, Burma, Cambodia, Tajikistan,Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia and Pakistan.

Volcanoes are said to erupt due to extensive mining. Iceland is bearing the brunt of it.

Thanks to the Green Delhi Clean Delhi Drive, the green cover in Delhi which was 36 sq km eight years back is now 300 sq km and still counting. Though we still have concrete colonies in the city! My suggestion for the Delhi's greening drive is to not just plant trees but plant Mango, Guava, Blackberry, mulberry fruit tree. The basis for this is that ten years down the line Delhi will not just flourish with greenery around but will also provide sustainable habitat to lots of birds. This will also help in combating the food crisis which is likely to hit the globe big time in future.

Another suggestion that I would wish to make it to stop polluting our rivers. Industrialization should not damage the natural ecology. Its no news to us that many exotic species have extinct due to water pollution, damage done to the forest covers. So I suggest that apart from extensive reforestation drive, each of the industry must have a waste recycle/management unit. None of the industry should be allowed to pollute the environment. Though it is apparent that government has laws in place, but somehow they are not working and needs to be reviewed!

Author's Note: Please don't assault the beauty of the mother earth. Use the resources wisely, Recycle, Renew and Reuse! Let us be able to wish earth a happy earth day!

Matrimony - The height of Materialism!

Matrimonial alliances in India (read Delhi) is the typical examples of materialism! Everything, right from the food, baarat, shaadi, exchange of gifts - the thin line that segments dowry, etc. should happen King sized. The sacred institutions puts the matrimonial alliances as paramount! A typical matrimonial alliance is initaited with social status, income and in some cases education! Family background, the spouses of prospective siblings also matter and finds place in the bio-data.

Once the proposal has been fixed, each of the party try to exhibit their superiority by pegging the maximum gifts, displaying it to the guests to gauge maximum praises. Gift are being extended in 'cash or kind' to even the insignificant relatives. They look out for opportunities and occasions to gift.  And not to forget mentioning each splurging spree should be clicked in the camera.

Now comes the functions close to the wedding day! The elderly of the family will be the cashier, as s/he would be taking stock of cash transactions. Everything is being done with a bang, be it the Mehendi ceremony or the afternoon lunch. While the families come across as anti-dowry (which means that the groom side will not demand cash on the wedding day)

All the demands would be however conveyed through loug mouthed relatives, and such gifts can follow after the wedding day. The girls family makes sure that at least a car is being gifted to the groom. While the groom expects that at least a flat in upmarket location should come along with the wagon.

Baarati's are high on liquor and shoot a cracker in air announcing their arrival. The Ghori wala during this time analyses the worth of allowing the groom to get down from the horse and asks for a hefty amount. This amount is not paid and the ghoriwala is being given anything between 200-500 bucks, or 1 grand in exceptional cases!

Now comes the bride loaded with heavy jewellery and embellished with a gorgeous lehenga. Not just the bride, all the girls attending the wedding are dressed in heavy attire as if their price charming will ride her away on the day!

Not to forget mentioning that the groom already had a girlfriend, but no guts to stand up for his love given the social status / threat of being excluded from the family etc. He had considered eloping with her girlfriend, but an arranged setup sounded good as he feels that he cannot give her everything. He is also lured into an arranged matrimonial alliance on the unsaid assumption that the girl he is getting married to belongs to a rich family and she should get good amount of gifts throughout her life!

Author's Note: Many guys are waiting for a huge bonanza in the form of such gifts. This at times makes me feel bad for the society. Really guys do, even those who seem decent, but such hypocrisy surmounts !

Love Sex aur Dhokha

Love Sex aur Dhokha (LSD) focuses on three stories, intermingled yet standing out. It shows that each one of us are a part of a unique story line.

The third directorial venture by Dibakar Banerjee , who has had movies like Khosla Ka Ghonsla , and Oyye Lucky Lucky Oyye ! All the three movies revolve around the basic norms of the society, while his earlier movies had the lead moving off happily in the end, LSD differed!

In LSD, the fact is reaffirmed that one is being watched, through CCTVs, handy cams, bag-camera etc. There is no lead, it is the interplay of characters showing that honuor killings happen, casting couch is very much existent and money can drive people to do cheap stuff!

Watch the movie, because after coming out of the hall, one gets a strange feeling of getting robbed, cheated and smashed on the back. There is not use of great technology, but the content drives you to think!

It also reaffirms that it is still a gender segmented society, where one who wants justice should con the masculine lot!
